The members of WCAG (Washington Cluster Advocate Group) are looking forward to continuing our monthly education dialogue with our neighbors and stakeholders within the communities served by the Washington Cluster schools. Please plan to join us at 6:30pm this Thursday, July 21st in the new Hollis Innovation Academy (formerly known as Kennedy Middle School) where we plan to share Dr. Carstarphen’s response to WCAG’s effort to ensure equity within in the Washington Cluster and create high quality educational options for ALL children residing within our attendance zone . In an effort to ensure meeting efficiency, we ask that you review WCAG’s position paper and the letter of request forwarded to Dr. Carstarphen and the APS School Board before the meeting. Questions? Please remember NPU Bylaw updates are needed by September 30, 2016 (see reminder flyer) and guide. If you do not have amendments to your 2015-2016 bylaws for 2016-2017 bylaws please indicate that in writing. Some NPUs may need to submit additional information if the bylaws do not answer the questions as the guide requests.
As many of you know, we’ve been lucky enough to work with the Data Science for Social Good internship program at Georgia Tech this summer on the WCA Data Dashboard. They have been working on updating the Public Safety portal (many of you have gotten the chance to meet the team of students at various meetings in the past few weeks) and will be unveiling the first iteration of it at our computer lab on Wednesday July 20th. We hope that many of you and your neighbors/colleagues will be available to attend and give feedback as they make corrections/adjustments before this new portal goes live.
Below my signature line, you will see an example image of the type of map they are working on (among other graphs and tables) that compares vacant housing and drug crimes.
