2016 Comprehensive Development Plan Round 2 Community Meetings

The Department of Planning and Community Development, Office of Planning would like to thank you for your participation in the 2016 Comprehensive Development Plan! Your participation in this process is critical to helping shape the vision, needs, and opportunities for the city of Atlanta.

We are preparing our second round of community engagement meetings and would appreciate your attendance and any assistance you could provide in getting the word out to your community. The second round will focus on Character Areas which are geographic areas in the city with unique and distinguishable characteristics and thus have a common vision regarding their preservation, growth or change.

Fire Station #7

REMINDER: On Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013  the Atlanta City Council will take a final vote to fund Fire Station #7 for renovations. We need you there to speak-up for the Fire Station. No votes are certain until they are cast.

In order to speak you need to be at Atlanta City Hall at 12:30 p.m. to sign in. The meeting will be held on the 2nd floor in the City Council Chambers located at 55 Trinity Avenue, SW Atlanta, GA. 30303.

McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority

Hello to all:
 
The next regular meeting of the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority will be held on Thursday, November 15th at 1:00 PM in our new offices at 1794 Walker Avenue, SW at Fort McPherson.   
 
Entrance to Fort McPherson will be from the Lee Street gate.  An attached document gives directions to the office from several locations.  Temporary signs will direct you to 1794 Walker Street as you enter the gate.  You will need to provide a driver’s license or other identification to the gate guard and announce that you are going to the MILRA meeting.  GO DIRECTLY TO 1794 WALKER STREET – DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE AROUND THE PROPERTY IN YOUR VEHICLE.

Community Meeting about School Closures

Friends and neighbors,

With recent proposed changes in some APS schools with redistricting, school closures, etc from the Demographics Survey given to APS leadership, newly elected ABE Board Member & newly elected Board Vice Chair, Byron Amos will be holding a special community meeting:

Thursday, January 26, 2012 Herndon Elementary School 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. for District 2 Selected Schools (Herndon, Bethune, White, F.L.Stanton, Kennedy, & Douglass).

This meeting is for all parents,students, teachers, staff, community residents, community leaders and education advocates to receive information on what exactly the demographic survey is, what’s going on with the various phases of the survey, how does this effect our schools,youth & communities and most importantly how we can be organized, become more educated and aware of what’s going on and get involved.

Please share this with any other educational listservs you may be apart of or other teachers, parents, staff, etc of those who live or work in the SW / NW Atlanta area.
