NPU-T Bike Rack Installations in SW ATL-Survey

I wanted to send along a link to a very important survery that you should fill out, and pass along to your neighbors. The City of Atlanta Planning Department is now soliciting requests for locations for on street bike racks and regular bike racks.
I suggest that you collaborate with your neighborhood associations, and walk your neighborhood in order to identify locations that might best be served with a bike rack. Also keep in mind that the Chief Bicycle Officer(Becky Katz) is a resident of SW Atlanta, and lives in Adair Park. This is a great opportunity for our neighborhoods to get more bike racks installed.
Here is the link:

NPU-T MLK Corridor: TIGER Grant Application

Please see the attachment. As you may have heard, the plan for MLK Jr. Dr. from Northside Dr. to Westlake is for the street to transform into a two lane street with a turning lane, green space and the now popular bike lanes. As I tell parents and families, documentation beats conversation. An email to our leadership is forthcoming. If you have any questions or concerns, that would be a great time to incoporate them. I wanted everyone to have enough time to review the information and have your question and concerns ready.
Also, please ask questions about community development and changes at your upcoming NPU, community, neighborhood association and church meetings.
SN: As of August 6th many residential bus routes and stops were closed and/or discontinued in SW & NW Atlanta communities. Also, new and some older apartment complexes in the city limits are no longer taking Section 8, vouchers or supplement incomes which has effective Veterans and senior/grandparents raising school aged children.

NPU-T WonderRoot Family Programs

Greeting from WonderRoot!

I am reaching out to you on behalf of WonderRoot’s Family Programs. In the last year, we have provided art-based services and opportunities to approximately 200 youth and families through our Family Day Workshops as well as our skills and experiential focused youth workshops. We are currently in the information-gathering process in order to devise new family-oriented art initiatives and fine-tune our existing family programming.

While we are in the process of developing programs, input from family-oriented stakeholders is absolutely crucial to us. We have drafted a short survey to gather input from stakeholders. We would very much appreciate if you could share the survey with your respective networks so that we can use the input we receive to tailor our upcoming programs to the needs of the community.

The survey can be found here:

We hope that you can help us by sharing this survey and look forward to the input we will receive.

FW: The Mall West End Back to School Event July 30, 2016 – Partners/Vendors

I have spoken to most of you and I wanted to send out a reminder about our Mall West End Back to School event happening Saturday, July 30, 2016, 12pm – 5pm, We are asking everyone to bring school supplies to donate to the children. Pleases see details below and let me know if you have questions.
As you know education is one of the elements, if not the best element, that equals the playing field for our youth and young adults. We are planning a Mall West End Back to school event with a focus on S.T.E.M.
( Science, Technology, Engineer, Math) and sometimes STEAM, including Art.
This is our 4th year doing the back to school event. Last year the STEM component was a big hit with the  youth and we will continue our STEM Showcase. Sharing how much fun science, technology, engineer, and math can be can refocus our youth in the West End communities to make a difference in their studies, their lives and the lives of their families.
The Mall West End Back to School event will take place on July 30, 2016, at the West End Mall, 850 Oak St. The event starts at 12pm with a talent show and we will have City Council Lady Cleta Winslow, Urban League, NFL Former Players, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other community organizations to join us. The West End Medical Center, now Family Health Center,  will be doing a health fair for us as well.
We would like also for your organization to partner with us to bring school supplies, paper, pens, pencils, book bags, etc. This year, Mary-Pat Hector, speaker, author, radio host and community advocate will be joining us with a live remote from WAOK radio to do HIV testing. Along with everything else, we will have health screenings, voter registration, popcorn, face painting, entertainment, and loads of fun. There will be other celebrity guess joining us as well and also Radio One on the grounds broadcasting, too. So, we are getting lots of media for this great back to school event at the West End Mall.
We are asking everyone to drop off school supplies on Saturday morning, July 30, 2016,  between 9am – 12pm. If you collect supplies before then, I will be glad to arrange to pick them up and be responsible for getting them over to the back to school event at the West End Mall for Saturday, July 30, 2016.
You have the opportunity to set up a table, at no cost, and pass out information about your community organization or community program.  Selling of any items during this time is not permitted. I have attached the flyer for everyone to share. Let me know if you have any questions.
