City Of Atlanta Home Energy Efficiency Pilot Program Extended through March – New rebates available!
Would you like a more comfortable home during the winter months? …how about saving money on cooling costs in the summer? A properly weatherized home is the answer.
The Sustainable Home Initiative in the New Economy (SHINE )program’s contractors are making homes more comfortable and more energy efficient in the process. A properly weatherized home can save you an average of $437 on your annual utility bill.
SHINE is a residential weatherization rebate Pilot Program offering City of Atlanta homeowners the ability to receive up to $3,500 in rebates towards qualifying improvements. Improvements include, but are not limited to duct and air sealing, insulation improvement, caulking, weather-stripping, and the replacement of doors and windows that are the source of significant heating and cooling loss. Incentives are also available for high energy efficiency domestic hot water heaters!
During the Pilot Program, SHINE is seeking homes to take advantage of the available rebates. Homeowners may also qualify for a potential $500 federal income tax credit if they make certain home energy improvements during 2011 in addition to a $2,200 in rebates through Georgia Power. Click here for more information: Georgia Power Home Energy Improvement Program
Criteria for the SHINE energy efficiency upgrade rebates include:
- Home must be in the City of Atlanta
- Single-family homes qualify (need not be owner occupied)
- Home must undergo home energy efficiency assessment by a Georgia Power Home Energy Improvement Program Professional
- Work must be performed by a SHINE qualified improvement contractor
- Work must be completed before rebate will be issued
Rebates for high energy efficiency domestic hot water heaters do not require an assessment, but will need to be installed by a SHINE qualified improvement contractor. Click here for a list of SHINE Improvement Contractors
Rebates will be paid directly to the homeowner!
Homeowners seeking to become a part of the Pilot Program should e-mail email@example.com or call at (404) 588-5982 to learn more about the program.
